The purpose of this position is to provide support to the environmental affairs branch for its environmental management system and data management in the areas of BI and reporting. Under the direction of the Director, Environment Management Programs, this position will lead the development of new and/or modified reports and dashboards based on specifications and will ensure they are available to the user community. They will also be responsible for continuous improvement of the EMS in the BI environment including user schedules to ensure the system is available and reports are generated.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of new, and improve existing, Environmental Affairs metrics, reports and dashboards to better measure and monitor progress of key environmental KPIs using BI tools
  • In collaboration with the Environmental Manager – System/Projects, develop and implement strategies to technically enhance the environmental management system on the front end (User Interface, Reports) and back end (Database, OLAP, Automation process)
  • Modify existing BI reports during application upgrade.
  • In collaboration with IT, act as lead for Environmental Affairs in all cycles of EMS enhancement strategies including planning, architecture, and implementation.
  • Work with IT to define tactical solutions for product delivery, as required.
  • Promote technical standards for quality, maintainability, scalability, availability, and security.
  • Innovate, improve, optimize, and identify opportunities for improved and automated business processes
  • Lead in the collection and documentation of user requirements
  • In collaboration with IT and the Environmental Affairs team, develop scalable, high performance, and robust Web and Mobile applications, as required.
  • Analyze and resolve technical applications issues.
  • Implement new features and optimize existing ones to drive maximum performance.
  • Provide production support for existing reports including schedule monitoring
  • Responsible for supporting and developing training for users in the usage of the BI applications and reports. Ensure daily execution of various scripts required to produce reports
  • Develop scripts to prepare data for reporting purposes

Job Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or Managing Information Systems and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience supporting or managing complex projects
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, relationship management and communication skills
  • Environmental Affairs knowledge and interest a definite asset.
  • Advanced computer skills particularly in BI, databases, and statistics
  • Advanced skills in such products as PowerBI, MS-Excel, SQL Server, Visual Basic
  • Sound knowledge of HTML, XML, ASP
  • Knowledge of Essbase, Oracle, CGI, and Teradata an asset
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects, clearly communicate status of projects to executive teams, and manage and triage many competing demands and priorities
  • Demonstrates openness and willingness to adapt to different and new ways of doing things
